The reason the company wants to relaunch is because in the past it was know for having a continues 70% off closing down sale. When Hannah and I were set the brief we realised we had a bit of a challenge on our hands as one, we are not males and we needed to get into the male frame of thought.
This was a lot easier than we first though....We found out that men are quite basic in the way they think, they aren't complicated like females.
To get this result we started off by doing a few brainstorms about men, men's TV programmes, clothes and the officers club. This helped to loosing our minds and we came up with a few ideas to set us off, obviously these were not the best so we carried on passing ideas to each other and we eventually decided on four that we liked. After talking them through with Neil (my course tutor) we narrowed them down to two and after further development we finally decided on our final one. Our final idea was developed through the way a man feels, we wanted to show that by the way you dress can change your mood and make you feel more confident.
Once we had our story boards finalised we could start our filming. We had a lot of film clips to get through and edit, five minutes in total, and trying to condense that down into 30seconds was hard work. Unfortunately I am a beginner in using iMovie and had to watch a lot of tutorials to figure out how to use the programme. I soon got the hang of it and managed to get 30seconds worth of film to show our advert. When we both decided we were happy with the film we had to start thinking of a audio track to go over our film. We had played on the idea of having a narrator like voice over to tell a story but in the end we came up with the song 'are you ready for this' by Jock Jams. I feel this works so much better and overall I am happy with our decision.
All that was left now was to make our 3 idents. We did need to look into what idents were as we weren't totally sure on it. Once we found out what they were we started to plan what we wanted to include in them, we drew up our story boards after finalising our idea and then got started on making them in iMovie. By this point I was used to iMovie and it didn't take long for everything to be complete.
Overall I am please with the outcome of our advert, I feel it conveys the message which we wanted to get across. If I was to change anything it would be to have more knowledge on iMovie so our final advert would flow more easily and overall it could be tidied up.
